Following Jesus

The days of my life started in church and continue in church. First, thanks to parents and now thanks to my relationship with Jesus. There is something special about worship that has always made a difference in my life and I hope that others share in this feeling too.

But although I have essentially always followed Jesus, I am just now realizing following a belief in Jesus is not the point of Christianity. I have, along with many others, always thought about christianity and church about following rules and aligning my life to a set of guidelines. Although I shed this thought long ago and abandoned the checklist, I have struggled with my spirituality. The point of christianity at this point and time to me is to passionately follow Jesus…not go to church, not simple believe in Jesus, not just do the christian thing when asked or being watched. Christianity is much more. It is about passionately loving Jesus, thus living Jesus.

Henry Blackaby puts it like this, “Christianity is not a set of teachings to understand…It is a Person to Follow”.

Christianity is Jesus…our Savior. God, created in man – Jesus – made in human likeness came and lived and died – the perfect lamb – a sacrifice without blimish – so that I may live.
